Police in Belize City caught a suspected burglar red-handed early Monday morning.
Around 5:30 a.m. on September 22nd, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Jay'z Pick and Wear, located at the corner of Mahogany and Jasmine Streets. When they arrived, they found a man wearing a ski mask inside the shop. The store's owner, 37-year-old Janine Merritt, told police she had been alerted by a phone call that someone was breaking into her business.
Inside, officers discovered that clothing and nail equipment had already been packed into several bags, apparently ready to be taken. The suspect was detained at the scene.
Police learned that he was 29-year-old Jimmy Rojas of Giles Street, Belize City. He was charged with burglary. Reports say there have been a rash of burglaries in the Martin's area recently.
