The parents of a 14 year old minor are out on bail after pleading guilty to child cruelty, after they allowed their daughter to live with a 22-year-old man. The parents, ages 56 and 48 admitted to the court that they gave the child permission to live separately from them, giving the older man consent to formally date their daughter. Both parents had pleaded guilty to cruelty of a child yesterday in court, but returned today before Justice Nigel Pilgrim for a mitigation plea on their behalf. Two character witnesses were called in for the parents. Both witnesses were teachers who claimed to know the parents very well. After hearing from the 2 witnesses justice pilgrim decided to defer the sentencing for the couple until Thursday December 18th.
