Over the weekend we told you that police and customs had intercepted a Guatemalan licensed vehicle in Benque Viejo carrying illegal ammunition. Today police provided us with more information on how they came across the vehicle, and the charges levied against those persons.

"Police have formally arrested and charged 50 year old Nestor Galdamez and 30 year old Edwardo Galdamez both of whom are Guatemalan nationals for the offense of kept prohibited ammunition. These arrests follow a search that was conducted by MIU personnel on Friday 9th January 2026, at approximately 3:45Pm on Hyrdo road in the Cayo District the MIU personnel reported that they were on mobile patrol in the area when their attention was drawn to a pursuit that was being conducted by custom personnel who were following a black in color hilux pickup truck. When the vehicle was intercepted and the search was conducted found there in were the 14 live rounds of.40mm ammunition."
