And there was another robbery in that same area a few hours later - where another firearm was stolen.
It happened early this morning on Freetown Road in Belize City and it left a businessman shaken and missing his licensed firearm, cash, and personal belongings.
Around 3:00 this morning, police responded to a report of a robbery at 101 Freetown Road.
They found 44-year-old businessman Chaowen Wu, who reported that shortly before 3:00, after leaving his shop and arriving home, he was attacked inside his fenced yard. Wu told police he was placed in a chokehold from behind by one of three male assailants while another struck him in the face.
The men searched him and stole a licensed 9millimeter pistol, an iPhone, and his wallet with cash before running off into the night.
Police responded quickly and detained one suspect.
