Unidentified Skull Found In Macal River

San Ignacio police are investigating after a human skull was discovered along the Macal River on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 7:30 on Wednesday, police responded to information of a human skull found along the riverside, upstream from the boat wharf on the San Ignacio side.

It was found by two men who were spearfishing between the low-lying bridge and Hawkesworth Bridge.

Police visited the scene, and with the assistance of a diver, the skull was retrieved from the river. It was packaged and transported to the San Ignacio Police Station but the identity remains a mystery.
