He was once the leader of a mass party - if only for 70 hours, and represented Cayo South and Belmopan for four terms, but after a succession of losses going back to 2020, it seems John Saldivar is moving on.
And, in this new incarnation, you can call him "Jean Birchman", karaoke singer extraordinaire.
A post he made yesterday says "My life journey has taken me on a new quest....Many have joked that if politics failed I should fall back on music. Well, here we are. Jean Birchman, karaoke host for all occasions and all seasons, birthdays, weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs."
He says that starting next week he will be a regular at La Pasadita in Santa Elena on Thursdays. He says he plans to take his show on the road across the country on Saturdays.
