He resigned as Minister of State and returned to his private law practice at the end of September - just 6 months after taking the oath of office. And now, Senator Chris Coye is back with the Briceno administration - at least in a limited capacity. A notice published in the government gazette says that Coye has been appointed to be Belize's Special Envoy for Finance and Investments. As the name implies, the appointment authorizes Coye to act on behalf of the government in matters related to finance and investment. All relevant agencies are called upon to facilitate his work - which falls under the Ministry of Finance.

Coye remains a Senator and a partner in The Courtenay Coye law firm. The other partner in that firm - Eamon Courtenay - resigned government in 2023 - but remains the Leader of Government Business - and Special Representative for the Prime Minister for International Legal Affairs, Diplomacy, and Strategic Engagement.
