A 50 year old man was today arraigned on one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault of a 12 year old girl. The girl reported that he touched her inappropriately on two separate occasions in 2024, and then raped her in April 2025. A doctor found that the minor was carnally known and classified her injuries as grievous harm. The doctor also informed the family that she was 7 weeks pregnant.
According to the girl, she was left in the care of the suspect on the three occasions the incident happened. The police have been investigating the incidents since June 2025, but charges were not levied until March 31st.
The accused appeared unrepresented and no plea was taken. He was remanded to prison until July 26th.
