Chebat, who is also the Minister of Public Utilities, was also asked about the proposed Smart acquisition. As you know, that deal has been paused, but is there any actual meaningful consultation taking place? He says it's with the PUC now.

"This is a national issue and the more conversations that can be had is always the best way to go.. whether or not they could have or should have done something or so on, we always want as broad as possible consultations and conversations when we're dealing with issues of national importance. I think critically the most important thing now is that the PUC has taken it over and perhaps that is where it should have started. They have taken it over and now they are the ones who are conducted these consultations and so forth and being the regulator, I think they are the correct body to be doing it."
