Yesterday we reported that Cabinet has been updated on the progress of the technical review of recommendations submitted by the People's Constitution Commission. According to a press release, the review outlines a structured methodology aimed at clearly defining the proposals and legally assessing them as part of a roadmap toward possible constitutional reform. Today we spoke with Dr. Zabaneh on what that means:
Dr.Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Constitutional Affairs
"So, our ministry, we have met, four times with the former chair of the PCC. We've also met with, a couple other groups that had dissenting views. And working very closely with the attorney General's ministry. We have engaged the services of, constitutional, lawyers, attorneys from the UK. We just got, a few days ago, we got back, their review. I, I shared that with cabinet. This last cabinet meeting, and, we are planning, the third week of April for cabinet to have an all day retreat to go through all those recommendations, because by early May we are obliged to present, cabinet decisions, to the House."
