A house on Quallo's Alley in Belize City burnt for a second time following a fire that started on Sunday morning. So far, the family has been informed that the fire started from an electrical issue in the back living room of the home. Jaleeza Roberts visited the family today and filed this report:

One man is left without a home to come to after a hectic weekend working out at the cayes. Police say that shortly after 11:30 on Sunday morning, April 5th they received information about a house fire behind Dario's Meat Pie on Hynes Lane. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a two-storey cement structure engulfed in flames at the rear portion of the building. Firefighters arrived around eleven forty-five a.m. and were able to contain and extinguish the blaze before it spread to nearby structures. Initial investigations revealed that the residence is occupied by forty-six-year-old Melonie Bowen. Bowen told police that she had briefly left the house to visit a nearby grocery store. However, when she returned home she noticed smoke coming from the building and quickly alerted authorities. The house is a split unit with 6 occupants in total. Today we spoke to the owner Anthony Scott who said that he never imagined that working on Easter Sunday, this is what he would come home to:

"I was in San Pedro when I get the shocking call that my house was on fire. Had to rush in from San Pedro, when I got here everything was gone because when I got the call I called my peoples and nobody was at home. Everybody was at church and they didn't manage to save anything in the house."

This is not the first time their home has experienced a fire but this time around is much worse than the first:

"What all was lost in the fire?"

Anthony Scott, Homeowner
"Everything, everything, fire pass through the whole house from top to bottom only left the cement shell."

"They never really tell me nothing that started the fire, they just told us a general area where the TV stand normally is, that's where the fire started from."

"This is not the first time, the first time it was rough, on a mother's day and now it's an Easter Sunday but have to try."

For now, with everything gone, Scott must start from scratch as the walls are unstable to build on again. He is pleading to the public for assistance:

Anthony Scott, Homeowner
"They could contact me at my number 605-1185. Well anything will help, anything they could donate, anything."

For now, the family just needs to basic to get some footing once again. Jaleeza Roberts, 7 News.
