Two weeks ago, we showed you the contentious public consultation on the proposed Port of Belize cruise port. Well, the National Environmental Appraisal Committee met to consider it on Holy Thursday. Reports tell 7News that coming out of that meeting, the proposed 900 million dollar project received conditional approval. We are told there was unanimous approval for cargo; all members voted to approve cruise, except for the NGO representative - who opposed it.
So it's gotten a green light, with - we are told - conditions on dredging, public reporting and other areas.
The full details will be known when the decision is formally published.
