San Pedro residents also celebrated the tenth of September with their queen, official ceremonies, and a mini-parade to boot. Our colleagues at the San Pedro Sun covered the tenth festivities on the island and_ Kainie Manuel_ has a report.

Signs of patriotism can be seen all over San Pedro in recognition of the September celebrations.
On Saturday, San Pedro annually uses The Battle of Saint George's Caye Holiday to coronate the new Miss San Pedro. And this year was no exception as Norma Leticia Lara was crowned Miss San Pedro 2005/06.
[Coronation of Queen]
Kainie Manuel,
How do you feel today?
Norma Leticia Lara, Miss San Pedro
"Excited."
Kainie Manuel,
How was it standing up there this afternoon and getting crowned, getting your cape, getting your scepter? How was that?
Norma Leticia Lara,
"It was good because finally my dream came true because my sister is my role model so I am following her steps."
Following the Coronation, the newly crowned Miss San Pedro and the other 4 other delegates paraded through town along with their supporters.
Throughout the day, islanders enjoyed lively music and tons of activities, including a bike race and the completion of the first ever St. George's Caye Day Fishing Tournament.
[Parade Follows]
