The National Agriculture and Trade Show kicks off at the Belmopan show grounds on Friday. Under the theme "we grow, we reap, we process", hundreds of agricultural and live stock producers alongside a panoply of organizations will displaying their wares and shake their money makers in the country's largest fair. But aside from the extraneous commercialism, the show is most of all about agriculture, and today we stopped by the Belize District office to see what the preparations are like.
Andrew Harrison,
"This morning we went to the farms and collected our exhibits and now what we are doing is packaging them in a presentation in plastic foams and things like that. After that, we will take them to the Agric Show. At the moment the Belize District is producing vegetables like sweet pepper, tomato, and we are at the end of the season of the onion season so we will have onions too. We'll have ranging from plantains, coconut, watermelon, and pumpkin. Vegetables will be sweet pepper, tomatoes, onions, and cabbage.
We expect to have a good booth at the Agric Show and an educational booth where we'll be displaying other...along with a theme of we grow, we reap, and we process. We'll be focusing on the 'we grow' part where we will show ways how to...the agronomic practices of growing these vegetables in the farm."
The National Agriculture and Trade Show begins on Friday and ends on Sunday.
