The 19th may be Garifuna Settlement Day, but every culture claims it, and today we found proof of that at Sadie Vernon High where the Social Studies class organized an event to highlight the Garifuna culture and celebrate Belize's diversity.
And as Belize gets ready to celebrate the 19th November with the Garinagu on Sunday, we leave you tonight with images of the Garifuna culture from Youru-mei in Punta Gorda, to Garifuna mass in Belize City to Jankoonu in Dangriga, set to the music of Paul Nabor and Andy Palacio as they perform the anthemic Naguya Nei.
