It’s police week and the department is showing its diversity through various community outreach initiatives. And on Saturday the Police Drama Club will go beyond the calls of duty when they take it to the stage at the bliss center. But it’s not Shakespeare, 7NEWS caught up with the group to find that predictably, the dramatic piece is about crime-fighting.

Edward Broaster,
“It is this story about two gang groups who are rival with each other and the church trying to do something about the situation and increasing the peace and so forth and by changing one individual we can change one by one and stuff like that. And the other one is sag to death whereby young people sag their clothes and other groups misconstrue the appearance of what they are doing and one of the guy who sags eventually got killed but I won’t go into all the details because the folks need to come out and see the show. We will be doing two nice dramas as well as a Miss Fabulous, the male police officers will be having a contest, a special that I am sure that the public will definitely enjoy. We look at the issues affecting our community and we try to bring it to the forefront and let the community see themselves on the stage in action as to what is happening in the community and hopefully that will drive home a message whereby they will be able to take a serious look at themselves and make some necessary changes. We haven’t decided where the proceeds are going as yet but definitely the proceeds will go to a worthy cause. It will be on Saturday night at 7 pm. Tickets are 7 dollars for adults and five dollars for children and for those who have seen our show in the past they know that they are not going to want to miss this show because this is going to be the hottest show.”

The play starts at 7 on Saturday night at the Bliss Centre for the performing arts. Tickets are ten dollars for adults and five dollars for children.
