“44” – that’s been the hottest number in Boledo since Barack Obama was elected the forty-fourth President of the United States in November. But, it had not played – at least until yesterday when those who stayed faithful to the number literally hit the jackpot, big-time! After those months of anticipation, 74-44 played as the first prize in yesterday morning’s jackpot.
Seemed like everybody had been waiting on it, and within minutes, major lines developed outside the doors of major Chinese boledo vendors such as Vin Hong on Euphrates Avenue.
Those who got all four numbers right won $150 for each 10 cent piece they bought. For those who bought only the long awaited forty-four – that paid eleven dollars for each 15 cent “single number” piece that they bought. If the 44 was your “ending number”, your earned two dollars per piece.
But regardless of who won how, one thing we’re sure of is that almost all regular buyers got into it, and it all but caused a run on the Chinese vendors – so much so that some of them had to ask the winners to come back on Friday because too many people won, and they couldn’t afford to pay everybody all at once.
Best information suggests that 44 has been “out” over one year – so it was due. And if you really want to get into the numbers – as all regular buyers do – the 74-44 was almost a dead Barack giveaway, because Obama is 47 – which gives you the first two numbers – 74 – and he is the 44th. President. Add that to the fact that 43 – which had also been out for over a year, played on Friday – and you’ve got a genuine Boledo Bonanza....congrats to all the winners.
