Today a group of teenagers from all across the country returned home today from Washington DC. These high school students went away to participate in a leadership training and cultural exchange for 3 weeks. We went to the airport today to find out more about the trip.

Dorothy Eck, Teacher

"The overall objective was to let the people from Central America and the Caribbean get an idea of what is happening out there in the US. They also wanted us to get a cultural exchange to see what is different, improvement in technology and most of all leadership and entrepreneurship, they wanted to promote young people to be leaders as well as entrepreneur within the country."

Monica Bodden
"Is this a first?"

Dorothy Eck
"This is the first trip that has gone yes."

Monica Bodden
"What was the experience like?"

Dorothy Eck
"The experience I would like one of them to give you their experience, but the experience was overall exciting, we leant a lot, it was very informative and we got to see what it's really like outside. We got a view how people live in the US and we've seen that people are people everywhere. We are face with the same issues, the same problems but we've learnt different ways to deal and cope with different things. Our mind has been exposed to many different ways of dealing with different issues."

Lashalin Lopez, Delegate - Punta Gorda

"My experience was good. we experience a cultural exchange and it was nice to get to know different stuff that we didn't know, knowing the American culture and the way they live there and we went as you know on an entrepreneur and leadership course where we learnt budgeting and learn about leadership how we can improve our skill as leaders in our community."

Monica Bodden
"Was there a certain activity most memorable to you?"

Lashalin Lopez
"Yeah when I climb a 32 feet pole and I had to jump off from it, that was very memorable."

Monica Bodden
"What was the most memorable experience for you?"

Jose Garido, Delegate - Orange Walk

"Well I think the outdoor experience because it made us realize that a team; there is not an I on it, it's not only me, but it's the team work and we had to climb stuff really high and jump from them. You had to have guts and courage to do it as a team. That was the most memorable experience for me."

The delegation of 14 traveled to three different countries over the time they were away.
