And while we caught the ComPol today, we were only able to get an eight minute interview since he was on his way to the funeral of former Commissioner of Police, Hughington Williams. Williams passed away on April 13th and was laid to rest today. The current ComPol Williams spoke about his predecessor.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"He rose to the rank of commission of police and I'm fortunate to be the second Williams to be commissioner when you look at the wall of fame for commissioners the only two names that appear are -Hughington Williams and Chester Williams. He was an excellent police officer, he served with distinction and so it is only fitting that on this occasion of his passing, that the BPD through the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth show our full support to the Williams family and as you can see we have police officers who are partaking as pall bearers, he'll be given a semi official funeral, and it goes to show that as a country we are grateful for the service that MR Williams gave to this country of ours."
Former ComPol Williams' funeral was held at the Civic Center in Belmopan. The current ComPol along with other former commissioners attended.
