Since the beginning of the year, we've been bringing you coverage of a goodwill initiative from Heritage Bank.
For their 20th anniversary celebration, the bank's leadership announced that they intended to work with Hand in Hand Ministries to construct 12 houses, which they will donate to deserving families over the course of the entire year.
The two organizations have already handed over 5 of those brand new homes, and today, #6 was donated to a single mother of 2 from Orange Walk Town. She's Marleni Mai, and after the organizations decided that she should receive it, they built it from scratch on her property in the Blackwater area of the Town's outskirts.
This evening, we got a chance to speak via Zoom with the manager of the Bank's Orange Walk Branch at the handing over ceremony. Here's what she had to say about why the team selected this family for this gift:
So, as you saw, Heritage and Hand in Hand are at the halfway mark, and they are certain that they will meet their end-of-year deadline for the other 6 homes.
