And while BFCA may be planning court action, one woman has gone the other route and taken her complaints to the media. Sharett Augustus is a former employee of the Housing Ministry and was terminated in February with the promise of a severance package. But up to now, she hasn't received a cent and is concerned because she is out of a job and unable to pay her son's school fees. She also told us that, during her time there, the ministry's payroll was bloated with ghost workers.
Sharret Augustus, Former Employee, Ministry of Housing
"They gave me a termination letter in February. From February I haven't collect even one cent. They have people at housing right now who say they are working who only signs a book and go home and they are the people they dealt with before me and it's not fair, because I work. When there is no one across at housing I Ieft central building authority where I work and I go there and sit down when there is no one there, because at housing there is no one there any day any way and I go and sit down there for these people who doesn't come to work, but they still collect. It's not fair to me that I didn't get my money, because my son go at ACC and he can't even go right now because I don't have money and I need my money to have my child finish school."
"Over 20,000 dollars in on my paper and I haven't got one cent. Nothing I haven't got. I am up and down to Mr. Harvey - he says it's in process, and they are attending to it. He said there was a bomb threat at the treasury department and that's why it didn't go through. I went just now again and there is no money there."
Reporter
"Are you saying there is a lot of ghost workers at the department?"
Sharret Augustus
"Yes Ma'am, there is a lot there. I work there for 13 years. When I reach at housing and planning there - me and Pamela Joseph we do everything, so I say its not fair to me, because I work."
We reached out to the CEO, Rey Guerrero, who explained that he was out of office at the time and is planning to do a proper investigation into the matter tomorrow to see how to best rectify it.
He also told us that in the past months, there have been mass terminations of those same ghost workers.
