All the students at Anglican Cathedral College want for Christmas is marley for the library, a fresh coat of paint for the walls, and a computer for the desk. But instead of soliciting donations directly the students are raising money the best way they know how - through the art of drama. Tomorrow night the school's drama club will perform a comedy, "The Prodigal Son." We dropped by rehearsals today and the play's writer and director Joseph Stamp gave us a preview.

Joseph Stamp, Writer & Director
"Its really funny. It is about this family who at Christmas time finds themselves having problems finding money and so their grandmother, one of the characters in the story, is about to die and everybody does not agree but they find themselves running around trying to make ends meet and really make family come back together because they want to find their grandmother's will. It is really comedic, something like a satire. It is a really good comedy.

A lot of people at ACC love to do drama and so it's to give them a chance to express that on stage. And also, the bigger part of it is to do some fundraising for our library. We want to do some more painting and we want to get financing for a computer and we want to put some marley on the floor for Christmas and make it look nice for the New Year.

Part of the thing is for the students to go out there and get things done and not just wait for somebody to say 'here.' It is getting them to be proactive, getting them to be citizens that say we will do it ourselves, we will get it done ourselves."

Showtime is 7 tomorrow night at the Bishop Sylvestre Memorial Center on Regent Street. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for the general public.
