On Tuesday night the Salvation Army School's canteen was burglarized and the intruders made off with foodstuff, books and other material from the school's feeding program. It was a great blow to the school which feeds anywhere between thirty and forty children during the lunch hour. Now, PACT, the Protected Areas Conservation Trust has come forward to assist the school in a time of need. PACT today handed over cash, food and material for the school to continue as per usual. We spoke to manager of the school Captain Anthony Sanchez and PACT's Areni Palacio-Morgan.

Captain Anthony Sanchez,
"They took away from us some chicken, meat, fish, some books that we use for the feeding program and some other food items. Being that they stole those things from us, we have to replace it back somehow but at the same time if we don't have the necessary finance then its going to be a longer time for us to replace the stuff but thank God we've been able to replace them or get them replace thus far."

Areni Palacio-Morgan,
"Usually when you hear of PACT you think its environmental or conservation or that sort of thing but it is also a part of our mission to give back to the community. It is a terrible thing when people break into a school but it is an outrage when they take food from a feeding program and they take reading materials from children who need to learn to read. PACT decided to respond quickly and in kind and give this donation to the school."

Even with PACT's assistance Captain Anthony Sanchez says that the school is still in need of some assistance to fully secure the school building. He says there are plans to institute a breakfast program.
