The Ministry of Local Government will send the UDP City Council a letter explaining how the head tax will work but it hasn't sent it yet, and until it does, the UDP, it appears, will not declare an official position on whether it will accept the deal as offered by government.
In today's edition of The Belize Times, government's point man on the negotiation Godfrey Smith explains that on Tuesday the government abandoned its strategy of playing hardball with City Hall, and gave in to the one dollar demand. He says it's an end run around the City Hall strategy and he says the PUP will now, launch a campaign against City Hall to force them to start fixing the streets.
