SJC President Frank Garbutt has gone on record saying that the school will no longer implement a $350 fee increase which the ministry of education has blocked. Instead, the President suggested that it will be a voluntary donation. But what about those parents who paid before SJC was forced to reverse its position? Well, now they can get a refund.
According to a six page press release from the school, effective June 30h those who have paid can get their refunds form the finance office during regular working hours. Those parents who would like to make a full or partial donation out of the $350 difference can indicate that preference to the finance office.
And while that will satisfy some parents, there are others who are taking up a bigger fight with SJC. It’s a group of parents who are demanding better from the school. They call themselves the Parents for Affirmative Action and complain about the quality of education, are lobbying for the establishment of a parent teachers association and are complaining about the failure to warn parents of the increased fees.
