As you saw earlier, while the bus system has fixed their problem, the education system is still in need of some assistance. This has prompted the Inter-American Development Bank to approve a modification to the Education Quality Improvement Program, or EQUIP II. This $12.5 million loan will support primary and secondary schools to make the shift to a hybrid education model that includes remote and face-to-face learning. A grant valued at $2.5 million will finance the integration of migrant students through multicultural education. The project seeks to finance three areas: inquiry and problem-based learning in primary schools through remote and hybrid modalities, STEAM schools and training of teachers in student-centered and gender-sensitive STEAM learning, and finally, multicultural education and intensive English language instructions for students whose first language is not English. One hundred and twenty nine schools are expected to benefit. This program will also positively affect thousands of teachers and students at the primary and secondary levels. Over 9,000 students and 100 teachers will be provided with technological education devices for hybrid education. The loan and grant will be executed over a period of five years.
