And keeping it on initiatives from the Police Eastern Division, ACP Gillett and his team have been able to convince donors to provide scholarships to 10 needy children from some of Belize City's toughest neighborhoods to police. Also, four others are being given jobs to earn cash while on summer break.

For the scholarship funding, the recipients are expected to maintain good grades. For the four youths being hired for the jobs, ACP Gillett made a plea for them to practice responsibility and stay the course at the event. That's because other children have been employed in the past, and they ended up walking off the job.
