And finally tonight…. The Caribbean International Brewery was much in the news recently for that 3 million dollars it had stuffed in its safe. But the company is making a public relations pivot tonight, by giving back to its home village. It today handed over 100 school bags to Carmelita Government School. Their generosity didn't stop there though, CIB also made a monetary donation towards the schools feeding programme. Their communications director spoke about what sparked the initiative and why they decided to give back to the village that first welcomed their business:

Fortunato Noble, Communications Director, CIB

"As a socially responsible corporate citizen we found it our duty to contribute to our people, the people that support us and the community around us. You Know the saying that charity begins at home, Carmelita is the home of Caribbean International Brewery so we decided that we will begin here. This is not the only donation that will be done by the company they will schedule a few other donations as we go along but we had spoken to the management of this school and they have expressed interest well they had suggested to us that they need, there are some kids that come without a school bag there are some kids who come with school bags that are a little less than adequate so we gave them an assurance that we would be able to donate some school bags for the school. We also spoke with Mr Keith Agustine and he runs a feeding programme for a number of kids here a significant number of students so the company decided to give cash for them to buy products, rice flour whatever they need for the feeding programme."

Keith Augustine, Administrator Carmelita Government School

"When the school year starts we have a list where parents come in and there are some kids out that they have not gotten all their school supplies so this came right on time this is the first week hopefully by tomorrow or Friday this will be distributed as I mentioned the teacher had identified the kids that are really in need they don't have any proper school bag at the moment or school books and what you see here we really appreciate and the kids will be willing to come back to school and fully prepared."
