Last Friday you heard from a frustrated student about the issues he was having with the University of Belize's registration portal. He explained that it took him eight hours, numerous emails, and countless error messages before he could finish registering. The president conceded that there was an issue and that they had a Taskforce set up to fix it.
And today, they issued a press release saying they became aware that there was a problem with the servers hosting the Xenegrade registration portal. They explained that though 4,500 students were able to register, some encountered challenges with their invoices and with finding spaces in the classes they needed to take.
The press release then apologizes to the students for the inconvenience, and adds that they have taken several measures in light of the issues, including removing the late fee from this semester's registration. They are also working with faculty members to increase the availability of advisors to help students throughout the drop/add period, as well as establishing an oversight body that will seek alternatives to the current technology that hosts the school's registration. They are also asking any student with discrepancies on their invoices to send an email to ar@ub.edu.bz.
