And while the Union had to look to a mass party for support in numbers, if press releases were feet on the ground, they wouldn't have to worry about a thing.

The University of Belize Faculty and Staff Union sent out a release last night expressing concern on the University Tertiary Level Hospital and Land Purchase.

They add, quote, "We are deeply disappointed by this development, as it undermines the principles of good governance and raises significant concerns about transparency and accountability in managing public funds."

They add, "The UBFSU firmly believes that the land currently owned by the University of Belize, as initially proposed, would successfully meet all required environmental assessments and receive approval from qualified, objective building engineers for cost-effectiveness and suitability. Furthermore, the University of Belize's qualified medical personnel should be actively involved in every stage of the University Hospital's development, from construction through to its operational use."

They urge the Board to call on the Government to reconsider its position and build the tertiary-level hospital on the University campus.
