And a release from the National. Student Union of Belize yesterday says of the land purchase, quote, "The GoB has chosen to pay $473,575 per acre for land that was originally valued far lower. This irresponsible expenditure of public funds is a slap in the face to hardworking Belizeans, especially students who are constantly told that there is not enough money for critical investments in education. It is outrageous that, in a time of economic hardship, such funds are being funneled into questionable deals that prioritize private profit over public welfare….We call for a reevaluation of the project's location with a focus on long-term benefits rather than short-term convenience or private gain." End quote.
