The only person who did speak to us was the bus operator, Densil Flowers - who says that he's been making the Belama to Pound Yard school bus run for 17 years.

He said that on Friday little Kwesi Staine appears to have been sleeping and missed his stop. And, when the bus did stop at the Pound Yard, Kwesi got out with the other children who walk to their schools from there. He said the bus driver did think Kwesi seemed a little small to be walking all alone, but he thought the child knew where he was going.

Flowers said he has apologized to the parents but it cannot be the job of the bus driver to make sure children get out at their schools - and that the oversight has to come from the parents or older students.

And so, you may be asking, where are the parents in all this? Well, Isani Staine told us - and Flowers confirmed that up until last Thursday a number of parents would typically accompany the smaller children to make sure they got out at their stop.

But, they say that the District Education office put a stop to that on Thursday - the day before Kwesi ended up lost at the Pound Yard bridge:

Isani Staine, Concerned Father
"Thursday, the Ministry of Education went on the bus and Mr. Cobb went and told the parents that parents were not allowed to be on the bus anymore, which was understandable because of the kids safety."

"He wah (put) in place that somebody will be on the bus so that the kids would be safe."

We'll keep following the story. Flowers tells us that there was almost a repeat this morning when two children were left on the bus - but, because of what happened last week - the bus driver made sure someone came and took charge of them.
