The Belize Adventist College in the Corozal district inaugurated their first ever Smart classroom this morning. It's thanks to an initiative made possible through a group with a fancy name: the Corozal Think Tank, Investment Policy and Compliance Unit. The school received 15 new computers along with a 3D printer to assist students in enhancing their digital literacy skills. Here are the highlights from that event.

Pamela Heron, Principal, Belize Adventist College

"We feel so special that amongst our children, you have chosen to come and spend time with us today. It is a privilege for us to have you on our campus. We especially give thanks to the Ministry of Investment. We are honored that Prime Minister Johnny Briceno see the need to assist the country in whatever projects that they deem best, right? So we also send a round of applause. Maybe we can convey that message."

"We want to also acknowledge Mr. Blake, our director. Please give him a round of applause. And Ms. Galvez. We were having a little joke. Yes, give her a round of applause. We thank you for your dedication in making this project a reality today."

"We have our first ever smart classroom. We extend our gratitude and appreciation for making our dreams become reality. I am very elated that finally today, we have the opportunity to see our smart classroom come on stream."

Thea Garcia Ramirez, Minister of Human Development, Family Support & Gender Affairs
"When we introduce digital learning into our schools, we are helping our students develop critical thinking skills and skills in communication. We're increasing your creativity and problem solving skills as well."

"And these are the building blocks of human development, which is near and dear to my heart. And it helps in preparing young people to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to the wider world."

"So this project also speaks to our shared commitment to gender equality by giving both girls and boys equal access to technology and digital literacy."

Lincoln Blake Director of Investment and Compliance Unit

"The project also funded computers. We funded about 15 computers, right, Nadika? 15 computers and the 3D printer. The filaments. Believe you me, those are the most expensive parts today. Because you have to be replacing it so that, so please use it wisely."

"We gave you enough for a year, I think. So we hope that you are able to design, but it's important for you because this comes with design. You need a computer because you'll design whatever you need to create and then you produce it through the 3D printer."
