And we also asked the Deputy Mayor about the situation with the Belcan Bridge renovation sign. It was unveiled on October third to announce that the City Council would take the point on replacing one of the city's most important bridges. That has caused a major disturbance in government - where the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has always taken the point on the construction of every single bridge in Belize.

Tonight, we're told that due to those disturbances - the Belcan bridge project may be going back to the MIDH - and away from city hall.

That is why we took note when we saw one of the signs was gone. But, the Deputy Mayor says that was bad weather, not a portent of a change in course:

Eluide Miller, Deputy Mayor, CITCO

"I actually received a video from a fellow council member I think it might have been the night before last or maybe last night we had gotten some winds blew through and we had severe winds blowing through. And it seems a couple corners may have loosed off and so the guys from the hope center, they offered to remove it completely before it just burst off and flew away. And so we asked the guys to take it down and our works team is now in possession of that and should be putting it up back shortly. It was not removed for no other reason and I would be happy to share that video with you that I received."

We'll keep following it to see where the bridge project ends up.
