When PACT adopted the roundabout at mile 2½ on the Northern Highway, representatives said they planted a 12 foot mahogany tree to mark the event and their commitment. Well, we knew the tree wasn't 12 feet, but we let that one slide, but it turns out, it's not even a mahogany tree. That's right, the trust which funds projects to protect areas forested by mahogany trees planted an African tulip, not a mahogany tree.
Today information officer for PACT Arrenia Palacio-Morgan told us that it's an oversight that has been corrected. The tulip has been uprooted and a real mahogany tree, this one 7 feet tall, has been planted in its place. The story is that the mistake occurred because both the mahogany tree and the tulip have similar foilage.
