For the fourth consecutive year the Ford Motor Company is offering thousands of dollars in grant funding to organizations working to protect the environment and Belize's cultural heritage as well as the jaguar. Rita Solis is Ford's Communications Manager for Central America and the Caribbean. She stopped by our studios to solicit applications to the Ford and Jaguar Conservation Funds.
Rita Solis,
"Both our organizations in the U.S. can present the projects that they are working now and they are trying to preserve the cultural heritage or the environment here in Belize. So they just need to send us that information and we can check and see and if they are the winner they will receive financial support to continue working with their projects.
The whole package is US$10,000 but the jury members can select one winner or the number that they decide to support. So it will depend on the project and the money that each project will need. So we can have three winners and each one will have a different amount of money. So this really nice because all the people can apply and all of them will have the same chance to win.
For the Ford Grant Program, the project has to be ongoing and it has to be working on cultural or environmental issues but we have another program that is the Jaguar Conservation Trust and the idea is to receive proposals of projects to protect the jaguar, only the jaguar, and you can present your proposal by yourself, in an individual, or with your friends, your group, your school, or if you are part of a formal organization, you can apply for the program."
Deadline for application submissions is September 8th. Applications can be made by calling Bel Caribe Communications Limited or on their website.
