Will BNE Drill for Oil in Belmopan

Residents in the capital are expressing concern over work that Belize Natural Energy has started in the city. Over the past few days BNE has started moving heavy equipment in the Rivera area of Belmopan. And while we were unable to get comment from we understand that drills are being installed in the area. BNE has permits to extract petroleum in blocks 5, 18,15, and 16 in the Rivera area is within one of these exploration blocks.

As we noted officials from BNE were unavailable for comment but residents in Belmopan are strongly opposing the operations since the Rivera Area forms part of the capital city and there is no telling how drilling will affect the area.
