June to November - tomorrow is the first day of the 2023 hurricane season, but the preparation began at the end of last year's season. And today, CEMO and the Belize City Council held a Building Disaster Resilience Symposium. Stakeholders like the Belize Red Cross, the National MET Service, BEL, BDF and others discussed the weaknesses identified during the last hurricane and how the city could be better prepared. Mayor Bernard Wagner and CitCo's CEMO liaison officer told us more.

And another area that always needs strengthening is shelter management. Over 1,000 city residents used shelters during hurricane Lisa, and this year, they're ensuring that enough shelters are available and ready in case of another hurricane.
