And in 2025, resilience in the Blue Economy means coping with copious quantities of sargassum.
Record levels of the seaweed are expected in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico this year - and it's already a blight all across Belizean beaches.
In San Pedro it's becoming a growing concern for the area rep and minister of the Blue economy. He told us it's the worst it has been in almost a decade.
Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy

"I think the last time where it was really really bad was back in 2018, last year it was not bad but this year it has become relentless, relentlessly it has been across the entire region. I live in San Pedro and I can tell you of course in Caye caulker sometimes it extends across the shoreline as much as 40, 50 feet and it's horrible."
And while they are fighting the problem with sargassum harvesters, many in the public say that isn't helping one bit. Minister Perez thinks otherwise, and says that they hope to acquire more of them soon.
Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy
"I don't know why they are saying it is widely criticised, when we are tackling the sargassum probably we have to put all our hands on it we have to come up with innovative ideas and trial and error is important we cannot just sit and say what is cheaper, of course we need to look at that but what is practical? And I can tell you right now these two harvesters are working Monday to Friday we will soon be releasing all the data we are gathering in terms of the cost, yes indeed it is a bit costly but it is very effective, it has been working primarily off the coast where the southern part of ambergris Caye is right now some of the resorts because they have partnered with is because like how they say it is not cheap but to criticise it no that is unfair I have never heard anybody criticise it no however it is working. What we need to do since it is proving itself now is increase it we need more than 2 especially this year we should put to test as ever before so it is working and it is clear that we need more we need to buy more so as soon as we release the cost and everything it can work and it is working."
