And going back to another of yesterday's press conference, the one held by the UDP, one of that party's losing candidates also happens to be a bus owner. German Tillett says the consolidated national bus company as a public private partnership proposed by the Ministry of Transport is not a concept that he supports:

German Tillett, Bus Owner/UDP OW South Caretaker

"It is a very good initiative. I'm not saying it is a bad initiative, it is a very good initiative. But the way they're proposing, the way they're pushing it, it's not the right way. You see, you cannot wake one day and say, this is what it will be done."

"It needs proper study, worse if it is a monopoly like this. Tillitt's bus industry has been in my family for generations. And we are not willing to give that industry just like that. We need to see something that will benefit us in order for us to give something."

"They come with this foolish talk about the PPP and this and that. And I believe, yes, it's good. You're bringing on millions and millions of dollars. Fix the terminals, like how Senator Gabriel said, fix the terminals, fix the road."

"We need that. Instead of bringing millions of dollars to an industry that is still living, bring that millions of dollars to the sugar industry, bring that millions of dollars to the teachers who needs that money."

"Help us with the fuel. Help us with the incentive. We need the incentives and then we'll prosper. Don't come right now and tell us this will happen on January because we will not accept it."
