And while Sargassum may be one of the many issues at the top of PM's never ending "needs funding" list. He also went on to discuss the need to find funds to assist farmers battling the fusarium disease in the north.

John Briceno, Prime Minister

"We set up a team of different ministry's and different departments to be able to assist in a holistic manner, how we can be able to try to prevent as much sargassum as possible to come to our shores we did not create it but it is a reality and we have to work on it.rRght now the same thing applies for farmers in the north with the fungus the fusarium fungus. That fungus has been around for almost 30 years but because again of climate change and extreme heat and then extreme water it has allowed the fungus to be able to thrive. And the government the cabinet had just approved for us to take emergency action to go into these fields especially the young growing ones to be able to put the necessary fungicide to be able to stall or to stop the spread of the fungus and at the same time we are working with the DFC to make monies available for farmers that are serious about agriculture to be able to pay off the bank and replant new varieties that can withstand the fusarium and other diseases that are affecting us because of climate change."
