It's a shocking suicide that has left the small community of San Marcos Village in the Toledo District shaken to its roots. Yesterday morning just after eight, 12-year-old Constantine Choc put a 16-gauge shotgun to the side his head and pulled the trigger; he died instantly.
Why did he do it? Well, the family told police that his mother and his father were having a heated verbal argument and he pulled the trigger in their presence. He was one of 6 children and known in the family as his 39-year-old father's favorite, often accompanying him on hunting trips.
Police are awaiting a post mortem to confirm that it was a suicide, but no foul play is suspected. There was no history of domestic violence in the home. San Marcos is a few miles out of Punta Gorda Town.
