A teacher is dead tonight dead after a summer camp adventure went very wrong this morning in the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve. At 9:30, Edelmira Mora, a 30-year-old teacher from Independence School was accompanied by 8 adults, including the vice principal of the school, on a cave tubing trip for 11 students on a river in the Cockscomb National Park. But in a swirl of current, Mora was swept over to the river's edge where her tube was snagged and punctured by the limbs of a fallen tree. Struggling to get on solid ground, she slipped out of the tube, and disappeared below the water and did not resurface. Her body was retrieved a few hours after and now awaits a post mortem.
