No doubt a couple of issues that are still very much on the agenda of the NTUCB and which many would like the body to declare a position on is the report of the Senate Select Committee. Davis says, all in due time.

Alfonso Noble,
What is the TUC going to be doing to add pressure to the call?

Ray Davis, NTUCB President
"I think the first thing is we'll keep the thing in order. Right now the report has been tabled. Whether we've read it or what we have to say is immaterial at this moment. What has to happen is when the thing is finally a public document then we will be coming on the statements on where we want to be and what we expect. We have already called on the Prime Minister to declare what the intention of the government is because that's where it is. It is in their court right now."

Alfonso Noble,
Now the other matter of the DFC. We seem to be falling silent on the entire issue. We haven't heard anything from the NTUCB or the unions in a very long time.

Ray Davis,
"What has been happening with the DFC is that if you will note, there is now the advertisement for the forensic auditor. There was a small snafu in that when the government had requested to the union that the cost was prohibitive for a foreign forensic auditor. We as a union had to meet with all our constituencies and we worked out a framework within which a local forensic auditor could be engaged. We have so done and we have the necessary assurances etc. from the government and we are now in the process of engaging the forensic auditor."
