The Belize Medical and Dental Association today opened its twenty fourth congress. Under the theme "information and knowledge in pursuit of excellence in health" for two days the association will be acquainting its membership with a number of medical procedures ranging from tummy tucks to infertility. At today's opening, President of the BMDA Dr. Martha Habet explained that doctors must strive for excellence in delivering health care.

"Continuous medical education and the pursuit of excellence in health should be the aim in each and every one of us. This excellence must be carried out not only to our patient's bedsides and our clinic but also in the way we relate to each other.
We think is an important way to keep our physicians and dentists informed of the newest advances in technology and science and also this is going to help them to take a better decisions to treat patients. If a doctor is well informed of the newest advances in medicine and what is being offered then the treatment of the patient will be of a better quality."
The congress continues tomorrow until midday.
