There is no need to panic but the Ministry of Health has issued an advisory on dengue fever. 47 suspected cases of dengue have been reported in Belize since the start of the year. But the news tonight is that there are outbreaks in Mexico, Guatemala, Salvador, and Honduras. Signs of dengue are severe fever, chills, headache, vomiting and nausea. The ministry of health advises the public to maintain clean yards - free from litter and overgrown vegetation which are prime breeding ground for the mosquitoes. We note that there has only been one suspected case of dengue in the district since the start of the year.
