And while here's "Water, water everywhere" - it may soon be a case of not having a drop to drink.
A public advisory from the Ministry of Health is informing residents that due to the flooding caused by TD Eta, sources of drinking water may become contaminated, and unsafe to drink. NEMO says water contamination is a major threat to health. The public is advised by BWS to store water and to treat water in flooded areas before drinking.
The Ministry of Health recommends several treatment options including adding one tablespoon of unscented bleach to five gallons of water and mixing it before leaving it to stand for 30 minutes before using.
It is recommended as well that persons in flooded rural areas who use well water, should treat that source as well. Water that is dark, has an odour, or has floating pieces should not be used and should be disinfected.
