He is one of many senior PUP officials with COVID - 19. As has been extensively reported the Prime Minister himself has tested positive. He spent two weeks in quarantine at home - and returned to work today - even though his last PCR test was still positive for COVID. He explained why today:

"On Friday a doctor for the Ministry of Health Dr. Cuellar went to give me the PCR test and also to clinically examine me. As I said I had no symptoms, I had no fever, no headache, no pains, no diarrhea, no loss of smell or taste. So she took the PCR test and then examined me and she then declared clinically recovered and that I could have move around from then, but I still stayed. My wife insisted that I do my 14 days, so I stayed until Sunday. So today is the first time that I am really out and I am here back to work. I must tell you that my PCR test came back and it is still positive. But when talking to the doctors and we all know the CDC and also in Europe they are saying that once you pass the period where you are infectious then you can continue with your life. Ironically, It seems that I did not get the virus from the campaign or election night. but I got it right here within this office. So, I say that to drive the point to wear your mask and keep your mask on at all times, a part from your bubble which is your immediate family."
