On Tuesday the KHMH will re-open its specialist Clinic services to facilitate day time surgical services. Those services affecting Oncological, Laparoscopic, and Orthopedic surgeries had been cut to a minimum since the establishment and expansion of the COVID ICU back in March.

But while patients who spent all that time waiting will now be able to access elective surgeries, they'll only be able to do so after a negative rapid test.

And this afternoon we spoke to the Doctor in charge of the COVID ICU unit who told us just what patients seeking specialist clinic services can expect ahead of their surgeries.

Patients scheduled for surgical intervention must receive a PCR confirmation test at least 72 hours prior to surgery. Testing sites approved by KHMH will be the Triage Point, Specialist Outpatient Clinic, and when necessary, Inpatient clinical areas of the KHMHA.
