Toddler Dies Mysteriously

The cause of death for 4-year-old Gerhard Schroder, a child from Camp 102 in the Newland Mennonite community, has yet to be determined.

We know only that the child woke up with a fever and was given acetaminophen by his community nurse.

Shortly after, he began to experience a seizure, and they tried to rush him through Santa Martha Village to the Northern Regional Hospital. But he took his last breath before he could get there.

Gerhard was pronounced dead on arrival and swabbed for COVID shortly thereafter. A confirmation of the child's cause of death will come with his postmortem.
